Tempereo
Tempereo is the largest country in Averis, carrying the deepest roots and the richest history. Five centuries ago, the great continental wars reached their fiercest battles on its soil. When the fighting ended, the world rebuilt itself here, and the Iron Keep rose from the rubble as the new seat of power within Vercia. Its completion marked the dawn of a new age—the AIK calendar (After Iron Keep). The Castellanova dynasty has ruled since that first year, their influence woven into every stone of the Keep and every alliance struck in its halls. While Tempereo’s fertile plains produce an abundance of crops for export, the nation’s true hallmark is its vast, disciplined military—commanded by a general whose reputation is as formidable as the legions he leads.
Verethia
Verethia is the only country in Averis that never took part in the continental wars. To outsiders, it is a land of shadows and rumor, its people unseen for centuries. The reclusive king has never reached out to another royal house, and many believe the island to be abandoned entirely. Yet whispers persist of deep, old blood magic that still runs through the land, magic unlike any other in the world, feared as much as it is coveted.
Castellon
Western coast born of mediation rather than conquest. During the continental wars, its founders acted as peacemakers, rarely drawing steel. In the centuries since, that legacy has endured—conflict is scarce here, and most dealings are sealed with a handshake rather than a blade.
Elvoria
Smallest of Averis’s kingdoms, yet its wealth outshines most. Born not from conquest but from cunning—when a merchant prince married his daughter to a second-born royal and bargained for land. With gold in place of soil, the Mergùn line built their own seat of power, and to this day they wear their self-made crown with smug precision.
Villanova
Rich from the stone and metals of its western range, Villanova’s fortunes were once tied tightly to Tempereo—until the current king took a mysterious bride from Verethia. Whispers of old magic swirl, but the Herrah line remains fox-clever, turning suspicion into leverage and ensuring they emerge on top, no matter the game.
Astoria
Known for boosting exports of every other country, Astoria is landlocked and has a need for most resources—though their land is rich in lumber. Large markets take place regularly here, drawing people from
Orenthos
Known as the healers’ realm, Orenthos’s northern grasslands grow a bounty of medicinal plants found nowhere else in Averis. Its healers are revered across the continent, and its halls of study blend apothecary craft with ancient herb-lore. Few wars have touched its soil in recent history, yet its borders are fiercely protected by those who know the value of what grows within.
Velichka
A land of towering pine forests and crisp, cold winds, Velichka is as enduring as the ancient trees that shade its soil. Its strongest tie lies with Tempereo, bound through centuries of diplomacy and marriage. Velichka’s nobility is known for its steadfast loyalty, their word binding as steel, and their winters as unforgiving as their politics.
Lyandria
A jewel of artistry and passion, Lyandria is the birthplace of the continent’s most celebrated musicians, actors, and poets. Its cobblestone streets are lined with theaters, galleries, and moonlit cafés, each corner humming with stories. Romance clings to the air here like perfume, and travelers come seeking inspiration—or to lose themselves entirely in its beauty.
Calliand
Small but formidable, Calliand is defined by its ironclad discipline and relentless industry. Surrounded by watchtowers and fortified borders, the nation thrives on precision—every sword, shield, and suit of armor forged here is considered the gold standard across the continent. While other countries barter in politics or charm, Calliand trades in strength, supplying weapons to allies and, sometimes, to former foes. In Calliand, security is not a privilege—it is a way of life.
Marindor
A glittering peninsula embraced by three seas, Marindoor is the heart of Averis’s maritime power. Its shipyards are unrivaled, crafting vessels swift enough for trade and strong enough for war. Salt, fish, and rare coastal goods flow steadily from its harbors, keeping markets across the continent fed and flourishing. The Marindoorn navy is as respected as it is feared, and their mastery of the tides ensures their influence reaches far beyond their shores.
